Lipstick of the Month - MAC Twig (September 2016)

I have chosen a lipstick colour for the month of September. It is not really a spring colour, but it has me holding onto winter for that little bit longer.

My current obsession is MAC’S Twig Lipstick; it is a satin finish so is extremely creamy and does not dry on my lips and become flaky. I got this colour when I went to MAC to swap my 6 empties for a free lipstick with the back to MAC programme. If you aren’t sure what that is about, I’ll write a blog about my experience.

Twig is a beautiful colour, it isn’t brown, but it isn’t purple toned and it’s not even red toned it is somewhere in between and it is the perfect Autumn Winter Colour. Yes I do realise it is spring and I’m a little late but I’m obsessed with this colour you have no idea.

The lipstick pairs perfectly with MAC’S Half Red lip liner pencil and lucky for me I already had it so I didn’t spend extra money….except I ended up spending on more instead….whoops.

I believe Twig can fit most skin tones and look equally amazing, I have an olive complexion and I think it is stunning on my lips and doesn’t make me look yellow or washed out.

Twig can be worn by anyone, even the people who don’t like a bold lip colour. This colour is bold but it isn’t in your face bold either, it’s pretty subtle in my opinion.

A MAC Lipstick is priced at R220 at the moment so it is a little on the pricier side but a dupe for Twig would be NYX Cosmetics round case lipstick in the shade B52 which costs roughly R89.95 and can be found at Clicks who stocks NYX Cosmetics or and even cheaper dupe would be Essence Cosmetics Lipstick in the shade 06 Barely there and is almost an exact dupe and an Essence Cosmetics lipstick costs R49.95.

Even though MAC is pricier, I do believe that it is worth it. I have had lipsticks for over two years and I still have them and they haven’t worn down, and I do wear them often. So for me it is worth the price and besides the quality is really great.
